IBEW Local 1620 started back in 1949 with its first members working for the Newfoundland Light and Power Company Ltd. (now known as Newfoundland Power Inc.). These were originally our Craft members, with our Clerical members joining the Local in 1990. The Craft and Clerical workers with Newfoundland Power are fully committed to providing over 268,000 customers with exceptional, environmentally and socially responsible service that Newfoundland Power is known for. These men and women of 1620 make us proud as they provide safe reliable electricity to approximately 90% of the island of Newfoundland.
